Privacy Policy
Four Words collects only what is needed to send the daily devotional. No data is shared with third parties, no analytics are tracked, no advertising is served.
Effective date: April 16, 2026
Who runs Four Words
Four Words is operated by Matthew Arozian, a sole proprietor based in the United States. See the Carrier Notice for full operator details, or the Contact page for how to get in touch.
What information is collected
When you are added to the Four Words list, the sender records:
- Your name (first name only, as you provided it)
- Your mobile phone number (for delivery)
- The date you were added
- Any notes the sender keeps for personal reference
When a daily message is sent, the system records the send attempt, the delivery status returned by the SMS carrier, and any error details. This log is used for troubleshooting failed deliveries.
No other information is collected. There is no website tracking, no cookies beyond the session cookie required for the sender's private admin login, no analytics, no ad networks, no third-party scripts.
How the information is used
Your name and phone number are used for exactly one purpose: to send you the daily Four Words devotional. They are not used for anything else.
Who the information is shared with
Your name and phone number are not sold, rented, leased, or shared with any third party for marketing purposes.
Your phone number is transmitted to our SMS delivery provider (Telnyx) solely for the purpose of sending the daily message to you. Telnyx's handling of that data is governed by their own privacy policy, available at telnyx.com/company/privacy-policy.
US mobile carriers (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and others) handle the delivery of SMS messages and retain metadata about the messages they deliver. This is standard for all SMS service worldwide.
How to opt out
You may opt out at any time:
- Reply STOP to any Four Words message. This is the fastest method and is processed automatically by the carrier.
- Submit a request with "OPT OUT" in the message field. The sender will remove you.
When you opt out, your recipient record is deactivated. Your name and phone number remain in the delivery log (so the record of past sends is preserved) but you will not receive any further messages.
How to update your information
Submit a request with your updated information in the message field, or reply directly to any Four Words SMS message.
Data retention
Recipient records are kept as long as you are on the list, and remain in archived form after you leave for audit purposes. The sender does not delete historical delivery logs, as these are used to demonstrate compliance with messaging regulations.
Security
Recipient data is stored on a private server operated by the sender. The server is protected by password authentication, SSH key access, and HTTPS encryption. The admin web interface is password-protected and accessible only to the sender.
Children
Four Words is not directed at children under 13. The sender does not knowingly invite anyone under 13 to join the list.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Substantive changes will be announced in a Four Words message.
Questions
For any question about this policy, submit a request with your question in the message field, or write to the mailing address on the Contact page.
